Jack was only a nine-year-old boy. He lost his mother when he was two years old and lived in a small, shabby shack with his maternal grandmother and father.
However, Benjamin, Jack's father, thought he was too stupid. He kept away from Jack, saying that he loved the old violin and that it was unthinkable except for someone with a half-cut brain.
But Jack didn't care. When he was playing the violin, all the scars on his mind were healed cleanly.
When he was six years old, he picked up a small old violin that the man next door threw out, which is now Jack's treasure number one.
In fact, there was a secret to the violin, 

which was so old that it cut off all the strings. So Jack couldn't "play" the violin.
Benjamin thought that was really stupid, too. 

Even Jack, pretending to play the silent violin, would make a screeching noise with his own mouth.
However, his maternal grandmother, 

Marie, has been spreading rumors all over the neighborhood that Jack will grow up to be a great figure. She really had high hopes for Jack, 

and she was very proud of him for acting differently from any other child. Furthermore, in December 1867, just before Jack was born, a beautiful comet in the universe, Halley Comet, passed by, so I assumed that he would become a tremendous figure.
When Jack was tired of his father's harassment,

he threw out his broccoli potato soup, went outside, 

sat under a large zelkova tree rising around the river, and played the stringless violin with his mouth.He played the violin until late at night before returning home. 

His father Benjamin scolded Jack again.
"You're such a crazy kid. I'm ashamed that you inherited my blood! Don't you hate your neighbors for playing the violin late at night, which is all broken and makes strange crying-like objects, and you can't sleep because of the loud noise!" After he severely scolded Jack, he climbed up the creaking stairs and climbed into the attic. Then, he threw two bills and shouted.
'Go out and get a drink!' he was a drunk.
Mary pressed Benjamin for that. "How long are you going to bother our precious Jack? Stop drinking."
But without listening to Marie, Benjamin covered his ears and covered himself with a blanket over his head.

And cried out. "Buy me a drink!"
