''Dad.. do we really have to be here?'' His Dad nodded with a little smile which made Elin made a little angry. But actually,

Elin wasn't really persuaded. ''When you're new in a town, you have to get some 'friendly' places.''

''Let's buy some foods. We need sweet potatoes. And some vegatables. Oh, Elin, can you pick the boxes? It's on the sale. Right over there.''

Her Dad pointed to somewhere where some people was crowded, strangely.

While Elin picked out some boxes she peeked in where people was crowded. 'Country assignment? That's strange.' She thought.

As she read some papers sticked on a wall, she found a poster. It was hand-writed with some pens, colorful chalks.

Some were printed, but only one poster impressed Elin. It was made with color pencils. It read, 'Food cooking show and talent shows!'

As she holded the boxes she tried to find her Dad. ''Dad..?'' She said but only her voice echoed back.

But luckily one market owner saw her and asked her name. 

''Elin..'' She said as she sighed. Her Dad had definetely gone up to the 'disc game'. If you pick a luckily paper you get one-thounsand dollars.

His Dad always wasted money on this game while she definetely didn't agree about this. 

''Sorry, Elin.'' His Dad said as he picked up the heavy stuff that he received. The market owner grinned. 

''I hear that you're intrested in cooking. Can I tell you some tips?'' ''Yes!'' Elin smiled, not noticing his Dad frowning. ''Please, Dad..''

She pleaded that he was worried, that they'll be late after that some tip ideas. ''Okay..'' Dad said.

The owner gained some potatoes and showed them to Elin. ''Potatoes make you healthy. If you have a show and the ingredients are potatoes

what can you make?'' ''Hmm.. mashed potatoes salad?'' ''Yes, and did you know what? I've competed in there, too. But I failed.''

''Oh..'' She felt sorry for him, but she couldn't help queastioning. ''When did the show got started?'' 

''Um.. In 1980. That was before I was born!'' The owner laughed which made Elin, smile too.

''Um, thanks. We have to go.'' She said as she backed away. ''Good-bye, come again.'' He said, smilng a little.

''Yay!'' She said to herself. ''I've got one friend.''

The next day, the family started practicing with cooking. 

When she was young, her favorite show was 'Mackenzie's cookings'. It was not that very famous now, but now..

It was really a big help. ''Um, Dad.'' She said. ''Do you have some.. agreement to eat my food?''

''Yes.'' His Dad grinned. ''Thanks..''

But as after a few minutes later she smelled smoke. ''..Dad?'' She said frantically. 

Luckily only the cup-cakes was burn and the house wasn't on smoke.

''Ugh, burnt cup-cakes going into the trash..'' She murmered, as the cup-cakes went in the trash.

She already thought the annoucer wil make a title with cup-cakes, because it was a really famous title in the cooking show.

 ''Really?'' Elin could not believe the contest was now starting. 

As she held her breath she stood beside the white table, waiting for a introudouce.

''Hello. Today our title is..'' She continued. ''soup.'' 'What?'' she thought.

 As she stirred some ingredients, she heard some guys giggling.. by her side. ''Did you hear Elin? She's the begginer.'' 

As her face turned quite red, as she realized this was high-leveled masters- not for her.

But as she didn't say anything because one kid went over to her. ''Hello, I'm Eunice.'' She introucouced her name as she flung her hair.

'Wow..' She thought. Surely she was really pretty, but that didn't mean it was a losing evidence. 

While she was thinking she accidentely dropped the mix parts- the sticky part.

She tried to rinse them off but she couldn't. She had to find ingredients again. 

''Drat.'' She murmered as the alarm went out, and the judges went out, waiting for her.

'B-but..'  she thought, but she changed her mind. 'Whatever..'' she thought, and brought the tray.
