  •   The memory of the last night was clear in Lutenger's mind. He bolted up from his bed, and checked his desk. The pamphlet was still there, safely untouched.

The door opened, and Lilac entered, bringing Lutenger's breakfast with her. After placing the tray on his desk, she left with one last disapproving glance at the small bundle of pages.

Once he was sure that Lilac had left for good, he picked up the leaflet, flopped himself on the bed, and opened it, for the first time.

A pleasant shade of blue shone out from the open page. It was filled with letters written in shimmering blue ink, just like its cover. Lutenger's eyes began to trace them, and soon he was completely engrossed in the words.

     - - - - -

Each spirit can move around the lower domain after they had been positioned properly. The upper domain is allowed only to the North Star and the councilors.

    - - - - -

He closed the pamphlet, wondering what the upper domain and the lower domain might be, and also wishing Liobern was there. He would certainly have known the answer.

There wasn't even a glimpse of Miranda that night, but Lutenger was quite certain that he saw what looked like silver, glimmering threads waving in the moonlight.

Lilac entered Lutenger's room like the previous day, also carrying his tray of breakfast. Lutenger was sitting upright on his bed, and the pamphlet from spirituality lay aside. She sighed, and left as soon as she could after giving her son his breakfast.

Lutenger was not interested in the breakfast tray. As soon as she left, he picked up the pamphlet sprawled on the bed in a rapid motion, and resumed of reading it again.

The Absolute: the place where the bloodline of royal spirits were firstly united. Where Polaris stays is also this place, as a symbolic place for the one and whole spiritual ruling council. Also called as Northern Zenith.

The Southern Zenith: also known as The Hopeless. It had been sealed up completely after the fall of Southern Domain.

Eastern nor Western Zenith had never existed. The historical facts proves little of its existence, and nowadays the two domains are considered as the groups of followers of the two main domains each-East of North, West of South.

He raised his head suddenly, and tore his gaze apart from the pamphlet. The sky was already beginning to darken, and it was time to resume waiting for anyone from his brother's world.

Lutenger soon lost the track of time. His mother visited him quite often, almost always to deliver him his meals, and sometimes threw disapproving glances and sighs at his pamphlet. His brain seemed to have sagged down due to the recent lack of activity, and all he could do during the day was staring at the ceiling dully, and poring over the little pieces of information which he had, by now, almost memorized.

    - - - - -

The present-day spiritual ink had been developed through many failures and difficulty. Nowadays ink of L.J.Rigel, produced from tear of true sorrow, and which can be only erased by the same sort of liquid, is generally used.

    - - - - -

And during the nighttime, staring out of the bedroom window into the deep, dark night sky.

The next day, Lutenger woke to notice the odd, blue glimmer which shone from under his pillow. After removing it, what seemed to be a short letter written in blue ink which seemed to shine even more brightly than usual turned out to have been under it. He looked out of the window, and spotted an unusually bright star near the horizon, shining and being slowly engulfed by the paleness of dawn. His eyes moved to the note-probably-from spirituality, and slowly began to read it.

Your spiritual badge has been created. Your position has been set. Please respond in any ways within three days. A planetary would be sent to your residence when we receive no answer of any kind.

     Till then,

    signs, L.K.Polaris, the North Star

So it had already been seven days. Lutenger realized this with a mild surprise. He lay back on his bed, staring up at the ceiling, and wondered what his mother would say if a spiritual person enters their domain, and secretly hoping that it would be Miranda who will be sent to fetch him.

     "No-No! YOU-Get away-GET AWAY FROM MY SON!"

Lutenger jolted awake, only to notice that his bedroom door had been flung open, and some sort of a person was already in the room, his robes like rainbows draped on his body. Lilac was shrieking hysterically, also making desperate efforts to pull Oberon out of the room, only to have no success at all.

Lutenger stared up at the person in front of him, bewildered of how three days had been wiped out of his memory. In seconds, he was telling Lutenger his name, and that he was the head planetary of the North Star.

"The spiritual badge is delivered to you."

Oberon said, not minding Lilac's hysterical shouts and flails for the slightest, and showing Lutenger a bundle of cloth that seemed to be nowhere in sight just a second ago.

"This is essential to you as a spirit, for it is this badge which keeps you up the spiritual world. It will 'grow' with your knowledge, as I know it."

Lilac made wild gestures to snatch the bundle out of Oberon's hand, only to fail and fall down on the floor. Although she was doing the best to not let her son touch the dreaded badge, Lutenger was already unwrapping the cloth, eager to reveal his badge.

A brilliant blaze of light shone from the unwrapped bundle. Right in the middle of the fabric, lay a small badge which was roughly the size of his thumb, its color deep crimson, but yet also shining the brightest among everything in the room, standing out of its brightness. Just like a star-not a distance one like the ones on the night sky, but something which was able to feel with one's skin.

Lilac, as though thinking that there wasn't even a trace of hope left, stopped what she was doing and collapsed on the floor, her screams switched into weak sobs. Lutenger held the badge-unrealistic in his fingers-tightly, A shade of deep crimson seemed to fill the areas around the badge completely.

"Pin it on your clothes. That'll do."

Lutenger, somehow being obedient, pinned the badge, slowly and carefully, on his shirt. Nothing happened, and Lilac cried, now more miserably.

He realized that he hadn't locked the pin on the badge. When his fingers reached the pin, he stopped and hesitated. His mother's sobs were clear in his ears.

Lilac's sprawled figure lay weeping, sometimes twitching weakly. It seemed as if there wasn't a word he could choose to say to her, but he had to.

Lutenger took a deep breath, and spoke,

     "Mom-I'll be back soon."

His mother burst out crying at his words, and for a reason he couldn't tell, he could feel tears in his eyes. His fingers worked without noticing, and with a small click, The pin was locked.

Both of them-her son, and the head planetary of someone was gone, off-world, leaving Lilac and her sobs behind. It seemed as if every drop of tear from her was reminding, pleading Lutenger to keep his promise.
