Chapter one
<Mistakes for Starters>
"Blah, blah, blah." Tyler mumbled as the teacher went on talking.
"It might be too dangerous for you, young wizard." His teacher was saying. His eyes fixed on Tyler. "If you don't listen carefully."
"Yeah, whatever." Tyler said. A little too loudly. The room went silent. That's when Tyler noticed that the teacher was talking to him. 'Oops.' He gulped.
"Would you like to show your friends how the spell works, Tyler?" Professor Galdlav asked, in a taunting way he added. "I doubt that I'll have to explain this again for you. After all, you're too good to listen!"
Tyler wasn't worried. But he was slightly annoyed. He knew his teacher was picking on him only because he didn't listen.
Or were there more?
He stepped over to the front of the whole class. There stood the large wooden desk that was allowed only for professors.
"Do the spells, Tyler." The professor said. "And if you like, you can undo the spells as well."
"But we didn't learn that yet!" Zorielle called out. She was listening carefully ever since Professor Galdlav started picking on Tyler. She sensed something unusual from her teacher's tone.
"Thank you, Zorielle. But I bet Tyler can do whether he learned it or not." The professor said. Eyeing Tyler, and not even looking at Zorielle. This time, she didn't sense anything particular in her teacher's voice.
Tyler was preparing for the spell. He mixed the ingredients in a cauldron. It was mostly liquid.
When he poured the last drop of Punkernel oil, he rested his hands onto the cauldron's middle.
He closed his eyes as his brain started spinning with magical motions. When he had he found the right magical source, he focused hard.
Smoke shot out from the cauldron. When the smoke cleared. There was a loud explosion as confetti rained down.
Everyone except Tyler burst out laughing. He turned to his teacher gleefully. "There." He said. "Now I will undo it."
Professor Galdlav raised his one eyebrow. "Do you think you did it the right way?" He asked with a smirk.
"Of course, you said to do this spell, page 172, 'How to decorate your gloomy room'." Tyler took his book to Professor Galdlav.
"See?"
"Psst." Someone called from back of his desk. He turned around to see who it is. It was his classmate that he didn't quite remember his name.
"Did you call me?" Tyler asked him.
"Yes." He nodded slowly. His eyes looked disapproving. "I called to tell you that your books are switched."
"What do you mean, switched?" Tyler looked at his book. He almost fainted as he caught a glimpse of familiar name. "Christopher Drew?!" He said aloud in disbelief. Everyone started laughing all over again. The confetti blew on harder.
He snatched his book from his teacher who was still smirking. His face bright red.
